The Bath Chronicle has more details of why last night's game between Bridgwater and Larkhall was abandoned.
Appalled Phil Bater described the scenes that saw Larkhall Athletic's game at Bridgwater Town abandoned and his son left with multiple injuries as "unpalatable".
The Evo-Stik League Southern game at Fairfax Park was abandoned with five minutes to play and the Larks 4-0 ahead after a mass brawl erupted, which left Geraint Bater with multiple injuries.
The Plain Ham club had looked well set to end a nine-game winless run, until Geraint was allegedly elbowed by a Bridgwater player, sparking a melee on the pitch.
He was left on the floor with what turned out to be fractures to facial bones, as members of both teams joined the scrap.
Phil explained: "It was a mad one, really. The game was just a normal game, we played excellently – we've been working really hard since we got thumped the other week and did absolutely everything right.
"We're 4-0 up five minutes to go and their lad decides to elbow Geraint in the penalty area.
"The ball was nowhere near him; a straight red from the referee who was looking straight at him.
"There was another lad as well, I think, that got sent off for headbutting somebody or something like that."
