Hereford 'Probably Deserved The Win' Said Winchester Manager

After this afternoon's game between Winchester and Hereford, the Winchester manager Ian Saunders spoke to BBC Radio Solent.

"They were a very well drilled side as we expected.

"A game of two halves really. First half we didn't play a great deal of football but they played everything. They came in deservedly 2-0 up.

"We had a few words at half time to try and sort our sharp out and I thought we were much better second half.

"The way we played, our endeavour deserved at least a goal, I thought if we got one we may have gone on and got a second and possibly something out of the game.

"But all credit to them they are a good side with some some real good players and we're indebted to our goalkeper to make a save from the penalty which I thought was real harsh penalty. He's made a good penalty save to keep us in the game.

"All in all disappointed not to get anything because I don't like getting beaten.

"At the same time hats off the them they are a good side and probably deserved the win.

"We tried to play even in difficult conditions, the pitch is decent here and definiately condusive to good football.

"I thought we caused them more problems when we played than in the first half. Once we tried to play we gave them much more of a game.

"But they were clinical and we weren't so clinical. We could have been one up (after 33 seconds), another real good chance on ten minutes. Then they get their goal, then we had a couple of half chances to get an equaliser and then they get a second through an own goal.

"After we had a few half chances without really testing their goalkeeper.

"I've got no complaints. They are a decent side."
