Bowen Impressed In Debut For Hull

Former Hereford United youngster Jarrod Bowen impressed in his first team debut for Hull at Exeter last night.

Along with several other younger players, he was called into the first team for the League Cup Tie.

This edited article is from Hull FC:

Jarrod Bowen and Greg Olley both made their senior debuts for the Tigers in the victory at St James Park on Tuesday night and first team coach Stephen Clemence was impressed with their performance.

“They’ve been a part of things ever since we went to Portugal at the start of the summer,” said Clemence.
“I thought Greg Olley and Jarrod Bowen were particularly good on Tuesday night. They tired a little bit towards the end but they showed that they can definitely play at a higher level. They did themselves no harm at all. It was just unfortunate that we lost Josh Tymon and Greg Luer to injury during the game.

“But it’s always nice to see young players coming through and trying to make their way in the game. Now they need to try and keep themselves around the first team and carry on with their progression.

“The senior players can help with that. We spoke to a couple of them before the game to remind them of how the senior players would have helped them when they were making their debuts years ago, last night it was their turn to do that. There will be times when the younger players need support on the pitch, although Jarrod and Greg didn’t need much support on Tuesday night and took to it really well.

“We signed Jarrod from Hereford when he was 16 and he has progressed really well with the Academy. He’s done well with us all through pre-season.

“They still have a lot to do, but they can be proud of what they did against Exeter.”
