Jenkins Thanks Merthyr

Steve Jenkins - BN Pic
Steve Jenkins, who joined Hereford FC as coach earlier this week, has thanked Merthyr for his time in charge.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody at the club for their fantastic support during my two years at the club," Jenkins told the Merthyr OS.

“It was a great two years and I’ll never forget the Bank Holiday weekend when we won the league and clinched promotion back to the Southern Premier.

“Last season, we had our tough moments but we got through them together, and to win the Southern League Cup and finish the season in tenth was a great achievement for everyone involved in the club from supporters, board members, staff and players who were magnificent.

Gavin Williams - BN Pic
“It was an incredibly difficult decision to leave and it was something I agonised over a number of weeks, but I think it’s the right decision for the club and myself. I would also like to wish Gavin (Williams) all the very best in his new role and I am sure everyone will give him and Ashley the support to take the club forward.”

Brough To Manage North Leigh

Former Hereford United player John Brough has been appointed manager of North Leigh.

Brough quit as manager of Cinderford Town after leading them to the top of the Southern League South and West.

However the club decided they did not want to be promoted.

“It was fortunate timing for me that when I left Cinderford the North Leigh job became available,” Brough told the Oxford Mail.

“It was very pleasing when I met the chairman to see the passion he had for the football club – that’s something I’ve always taken with me to every club I’ve been at.”

Jenkins Named as Beadle's Assistant

Hereford FC have this morning confirmed that Steve Jenkins has joined the club as assistant manager for the coming season.

Since his last spell with the Bulls in the 2013/14, he has had two successful seasons with Merthyr Town, firstly securing promotion from the Southern League Division 1 South and West, and more recently the Southern League Red Insure Cup, which the club hadn't won in more than 60 years.

Speaking about the appointment, manager Pete Beadle told the official site:
“The departure of Matt Bishop obviously left a huge hole to fill. There was only really one person who I thought could fill his shoes, and that is Jenks”.

“The role of Assistant Manager is a vital cog in a football team. Matt played a huge part in our success this season, but I am confident that Steve has exactly what it takes to continue the great work.”

“I’ve known Jenks for some time now, we are very close, and I can’t wait to start working with him again as we plan for next season.

“Jenks brings with him a great attitude, and also a fantastic knowledge of the game. I’m delighted that he has accepted the offer to return to Edgar Street.”

Welcome back Jenks.

Clucas Helps Hull Back to the Premier League

Ex-Bull Sam Clucas was involved in yesterday's Championship play-off final at Wembley, coming on as a sub in the 82nd minute for Hull City. The Tigers were leading Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at the time thanks to Mohamed Diamé's goal 10 minutes previous.
Clucas subsequently helped Hull see the game out, meaning the club were promoted back to the top flight for the third time in 8 years.

Clucas signed for Hereford United in November 2011 and made 58 appearances for the Bulls, and the following season was named Player of the Year.
In June 2013 he was 'sold' to Mansfield for just £20,000, plus a 15% selling on clause, both of which were decided at a tribunal.
Then in September 2014 he moved to Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee, before signing for Hull last summer for a fee to the tune of £1.3M.

Evesham United Moved To Northern League

As a result of Cinderford Town refusing promotion from the Southern League Division 1 South and West, Evesham United have be moved into the Northern Premier League Division One South.

Evesham would have been the closest away game for Hereford should Cinderford have accepted promotion.

"It's a kick in the teeth for the club and I find it hard to accept that we are paying for another club's misfortune," Evesham manager Paul Collicutt told the Gloucester Citizen.

"We have been told by the FA that there will only be 40-50 extra miles of travelling, but we are missing out on a potential sell out against Hereford and a lot of other local derby matches.

"We had already planned for the season ahead and now it's all going to be new for us.

"We have 14 days to appeal the decision so we will see what happens next."

In a statement, the Southern League has explained the changes:

Cinderford Town FC are to be allocated to the Southern League Division One South & West (Step 4).

Corby Town FC will be laterally moved at Step 3 from the Northern Premier League to the Southern League.

Stamford AFC will be reprieved and be allocated to Northern Premier League Premier (Step 3).

Evesham United FC will be laterally moved at Step 4 from the Southern League Division One South & West to the Northern Premier League Division One South.

HUST To Purchase £30K Of Hereford Shares

The Board of HUST is delighted to be able to announce that it has been resoled to allocate the sum of £30,000 for purchase of shares in Hereford FC.

This allocation is made up of three elements namely: Profits from 50/50 draw sales, profits from The Prize Bull Lottery and sundry donations from members.

The Board is aware of the vast expenditure that is necessary to make improvements to the stadium and its facilities and that major investment has already been earmarked for the playing surface.

It is for this purpose that we would wish this share purchase to be allocated.

These funds will be released at the conclusion of the S.G.M. on June 9th.

Further details regarding the S.G.M. and a fifth benefactor to The Football Club will be released in the next few days.
