Fantastic Goal From Purdie

In his post match press interview at Alvechurch last night, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle was asked about Rob Purdie's goal which opened the scoring.

"A fantastic goal," said Beadle.

"A great move to lead up to the goal.

"People will talk about the finish but if you go back a few passes when Pablo got clean through, a fantastic little move, Pablo just over stretched a little bit.

Great Run From Haysham

Keeper Only Half Stops The Ball

And It Falls To Rob Purdie Who Blasts It In The Back Of The Net
"He just reached for it, deflected off the keeper, Purds was following up perfectly, it's a great connection and it's a great finish."

The second Hereford goal.

A Corner Was Met By Jimmy Oates

Oates Managed To Head The Ball Towards Pablo Haysham Who Then Scored

"A good corner and this time Jimmy managed to get his head on it and Pablo managed to hook it over his shoulder and put it in.

"A nice cushion to have and that was when they changed it and I changed it and I got it wrong.

"If we had of stayed as we were, we may have kept the ascendancy a liitle bit longer than we did.

"But we didn't and they got the goal back and then Sid should have scored, Sid should have put us 3-0 up but he didn't hit the target. Another great move but then we changed it and they got a goal back and then it was always going to be a battle.

"But the players were fantastic, they've dug in and got me out of a hole and then Martin pulled off the save right at the end."

So why did Beadle make the subs and change the formation?

"It was because they were bringing more forwards because they didn't want to lose the game. We then needed to make sure we could cope with that and against, no disrespect, Sid and Muss are not the most defensive minded players so we changed and changed the shape, but we probably shouldn't have changed the shape.

"We went quite narrow then the lad who came on and scored the goal was playing quite wide and he caused us problems so we changed it again after that and we were a bit more balanced but by then it was a little bit late because they were on top again."

The penalty save.

The Penalty Save By Martin Horsell
"Someone said he hit it straight down the middle and Martin has managed to stand up and get his knee/leg to it or whatever.

"It's not an easy situation taking a penalty when there is a crowd here. You can practise all week. But when you step up to take one, I've been there, and it's not easy.

"I know that probably playing in the back of his mind was the problem they've had with penalties this year, they've missed quite a few.

"But Martin has come up with the goods and saved us in a crucial time of the game. That gave us a little bit of a lift and we managed to see it through."

Meanwhile there is some video of the game taken from the roof of the changing rooms.
