Wulfrunians Were Exceptional Said Beadle

Speaking after this afternoon's game Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle thought that AFC Wulfrunians had been 'exceptional'.

"We didn't play well first half, they played very well, we weren't quite at it and it made for an interesting game," said Beadle.

"I think if Mike had put away his chance at 1-0 it may have been a little bit different.

"I thought Wulfrunians were exceptional today. They caused us a few problems first half. Second half we got to grips and were a little bit better with our application and attitude and we got the result.

"It was real hard fought, tricky conditions but I thought both teams put on a good display and made a real good game of it."

Beadle took off Rob Purdie and Jamie Willets at half-time and brought on Anthony Robbins and Jimmy Oates.

"We wanted to change things a little bit. We just felt we were a little bit flat and we came away with a 2-1 so perhaps my decisions worked.

"Nothing to do with individuals. Purds had a bit of a knock but he was fine, Jamie the same but Jamie has played an awful lot of games, he hasn't missed one yet. He's been on a fantastic run of games but today I felt he looked a little bit tired.

"All these boys they are still young men, Jamie is only 23 and he looked a bit leggy, a bit tired so we put Ryan inside and brought Jimmy into the team. We looked no different but it just pepped things up a bit.

"Sometimes you need to get a reaction from players so we changed the shape a bit and went with an extra man in mid-field and it worked because we got the result.

"We looked far better second half because we got closer to the ball and we put good pressure on the ball further up the pitch and because we put the extra body in there.

"It worked, we got the result out of it and we're happy with that now."

Beadle was asked about injuries to players.

"Page who was here today on crutches is done for the season, Nathan Hughes was going to play for Peggy today but he just rolled his ankle in training in Thursday.

"Nothing that is out of the ordinary, you get bumps and brusies when you play the games you play.

"May be we were not quite as sharp, we are the only team that played three games over Christmas.

"Our club has done well to get both games on and Wulfrunians have done a great job to get the pitch on. It was difficult but it was playable so they've done well.

"We're delighted to have played them, we're delighted to have got nine points and another game chalked off and we're on to the next one.

"It's been a tough two weeks. The lads have also been in training twice over Christmas. They were in on the 31st and training that morning. They've been as professional as we can and they've come in and done the work and that's why we've got nine points on the board."
