Alvechurch defeated Westfields 3-0 this evening and therefore have closed the gap on Hereford at the top of the Midland Premier League.
1 | Hereford | 20 | 16 | 1 | 3 | 66 | 19 | 47 | 49
2 | Alvechurch | 17 | 14 | 1 | 2 | 49 | 13 | 36 | 43
3 | Heanor Town | 20 | 13 | 4 | 3 | 60 | 33 | 27 | 43
4 | Sporting Khalsa | 15 | 12 | 1 | 2 | 41 | 14 | 27 | 37 |
The general impression amidst those attending the game was that whilst Alvechurch were a pacy outfit and looked dangerous going forward, their defence was not really tested.
Westfields are 19th out of 22 in the League and in truth never looked like scoring. Relegation threatens if their form doesn't improve.
Their manager Sean Edwards said afterwards that he would like to bring in several players to bolster his squad. He was very disappointed with the performance this evening.
Two of Alvechurch's goals were from defensive errors.
Finally Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle watched the game as did at least four of the directors of the Edgar Street club and around 100 supporters.
The attendance was 216.
