Northamptonshire Police executed a warrant at Northampton Town's Sixfields stadium today as they began an investigation into 'alleged financial irregularities' over the club's £10.25million Council loan.
Northamptonshire Council made a formal complaint to the Police about the matter, prompting a visit 'in order to secure any documentation which may be relevant to the investigation.'
The raid comes on the day that the club announced that a deal had finally been struck between chairman David Cardoza and bidder Kelvin Thomas. A brief club statement notes that the deal is hoped to be complete before Friday's court date.
