News Round-Up

Brocton have resigned forward Sam Bell from Sutton Coldfield Town. Bell scored 21 goals in 37 games last season before a summer switch to the Step 4 club. Alvechurch have signed goalkeeper Matthew Sargeant from Halesowen Town after he opted to leave for regular football after just eight league starts this season.

Braintree chairman Lee Harding says the new parachute payments to relegated Football League sides to the National League are 'a disaster for non-league'. Harding says the £474,000 payment is 'three or four times the size of our playing budget' and that clubs relegated from the Football League will receive over £500,000 against the £40,000 received by other National League sides.

Former Bull Gary Bowyer has been sacked as manager of Blackburn Rovers. The 44 year old leaves after just over two years in the job, having led the club to successive top 10 finishes in the Championship but having suffered a poor start to the current season. The club has spent the last 11 months under a transfer ban due to breaching the new Football League financial rules.
