BN has been sent a cutting from the Sunday Express dated January 31st 1965 showing Hereford United top of the Southern League First Division.
The club drew their first match of the 1964/65 campaign then won nine in a row. However Wimbledon put a stop to the run with a 2-1 win at Edgar Street watched by 5,123.
By the end of January as the table shows Hereford were top with a nine point gap over second placed Wimbledon.
They clinched promotion by eleven points gaining 72 points from 42 games watched by an average home gate of 2,888 some 1,000 higher than the previous season. Goals scored were a remarkable 124 with only 39 against.
