Beadle Pleased With Back Four

Speaking to BN after this afternoon's 2-0 win at Rocester, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle said he was pleased how the back four defended considering both Ryan Green and Joel Edwards were missing.

"Our back four today were excellent," said Beadle.

"We dealt with everything pretty much first half, second half they had some great deliveries with their set pieces but we defended stoutly and kept a clean sheet."

Keeper Harvey Rivers tipped over two shots and stopped another with his legs.

"Sometimes over recent weeks he hasn't been called on to do a great deal but today he earnt his money as they say.

"He made a couple of good stops and took a couple of good crosses but that's what he's there to do.

"John is there to score goals, Harvey is there to keep them out and he's done it again today.

"So we're delighted we've got back on the clean sheet run. If we can continue that it will bode well for us."

Nathan Summers came on for a few minutes after his spell out with injury.

"With the numbers we had we were a little bit unsure as to whether he was going to be okay but we had a good chat on the bus on the way down and he was adamant he wanted to be part of it.

"He came on and hopefully he'll have no reaction to the twenty minutes he had and so we can get him back into the squad quickly.

"He's done alright today and he's just said he's had no problems so touch wood he'll be alright."

Ryan Green missed the game as he has flu. However captain Joel Edwards's absence, reportedly at a wedding, was noted by supporters.

"He's not available. If he's not available, he's not available," said Beadle.

"But the thing is now this is the worst time not to be in the team.

"The left back who played today (Rob Purdie) put in a good performance as I would have expected him to do and now he's (Edwards) going to have to work hard to get back into the team.

"You want to take that gamble and not turn up then that's up to him.

"I've known for a little while that he wasn't going to be there and I'm disappointed in it. But that's his choice and now he's got a fight on his hands to get back in the team."
