News Round-Up

Newport's Supporters Trust is up to £108,000 of their £195,000 target to take over the club as of Thursday with 12 days left to find the remaining £87,000 after averaging around £5,000 a day over the last two weeks. Highgate have signed two new players with Avun Jephcott being poached from Coventry Sphinx and Dave Yonwin joining from Step 6 side Heather St Johns after reneging on an agreement to join the club in the summer.

Two managerial departures have happened in the National League. Halifax have sacked Neil Aspin after six years, while Torquay boss Paul Cox has left for 'what appears to be personal reasons' (according to a club statement) after just three months. Halifax are in 23rd place, and Torquay 18th, with suggestions that Cox may be their next boss. The former Mansfield boss is reported to have been on an expenses-only arrangement at Plainmoor with the club saying he gave them an ultimatum over a paid contract.
