Westfields 0 - Hereford 0

Joel Edwards Leads Out The Hereford FC Starting XI
Following his suspension for Tuesday’s 5-4 home loss against Coleshill, Nathan Summers was restored in the heart of defence alongside Tony James for today’s Hereford Derby at Westfields’ allpay.park.

Hereford kicked off this afternoon's match, and it was Beadle’s side who were first to show. A long ball was played up to John Mills and after getting past his man, Mills’ low shot was palmed away by the diving Westfields keeper Matt Gwynne. However, the resulting corner failed to test Gwynne as the referee blew for a Westfields free kick.

With 12 minutes on the clock, John Mills had another chance to open the scoring. Joel Edwards broke down the left wing before crossing the ball into the path of the onrushing Mills. Mills then managed to get away a shot from the edge of the area, but Matt Gwynne had little trouble in claiming the ball.

John Mills Tries A Shot
Four minutes later it was Mills again with a chance, a cross was whipped in from the right by Nathan Hughes, but Mills' effort was sent straight into the arms of the home keeper.

In the 33rd minute, John Mills' diagonal shot from the left of the box was deflected out for a corner by Westfields’ Saunston.  Tony James' effort from the resulting corner was sent wide of the upright for a goal kick.

Adam Page Fouled?
Six minutes from half time, Rob Purdie tried his luck from a free kick 30-yards out following a foul by Jamie Cuss. However, Purdie’s shot was deflected over by a head in the Westfields wall.

Westfield’s best chance of the first half fell in the 41st minute. An initial cross was only cleared as far as Mike Tambling, whose shot from just outside the area hit the underside of the crossbar before being put behind for a goal kick.

At the start of the second half, the referee waved play on after a foul on Rob Purdie, with the ball falling to Pablo Heysham; his shot from 20-yards went inches over Gwynne’s goal.
Chance For Pablo Haysham
In the 55th minute, Westfields' Jamie Cuss had a shot blocked by Tony James, before Mike Tambling volleyed the rebound, but his shot was too high and wide to trouble Bulls’ stopper Harvey Rivers.

Jamie Cuss delivered a long ball up the wing for Westfields to the feet of Aidan Thomas; he quickly whipped in a cross for the home side, but Harvey Rivers managed to palm the ball away before Craig Jones could connect with it.

Hereford immediately responded to the danger when Pablo Heysham broke away with a darting run, with just the keeper to beat, Heysham’s shot was eventually smothered by Matt Gwynne.

After Nathan Summers was booked following a foul on the left wing, Westfields crossed the ball into the 18-yard box from the resulting free kick; as Brad Birch scrambled to get a shot away, Hereford managed to clear the ball as far as Mills. As the striker made a sprinting run deep into the Westfields half, his shot was agonisingly deflected behind for a corner.

Mills With Keeper Gwynne To Beat
As Hereford won the first of three consecutive corners, Purdie was replaced by Aaron Birch after he had picked up a knock. Hereford’s best chance fell to Pablo Heysham; his shot which was destined for the top right hand corner with Gwynne beaten, but the ball was flicked over by the head of James Febery.

After Craig Jones dispossessed Hereford just inside his own half, a powerful run forward resulted in his shot being exquisitely tipped over the bar by Rivers. Then from the following corner, Rivers was forced into making another fine save low down to his left, before a final shot went wide for a goal kick.

With Hereford arguably creating the better chances of the two sides, they were unlucky not to be rewarded in the closing stages of the game. As a long ball was played forward to Heysham, he quickly broke away from Westfields' defence.

Haysham Gets Around Keeper Gwynne
As the keeper came off his line to challenge, Heysham rounded Gwynne before the referee blew for a foul much to the amazement of the away support. With Heysham questioning Tom Reeves’ decision, he was swiftly booked for what appeared to be dissent.
