Hereford 4 - Coleshill 5

For tonight's match against Coleshill, Hereford manager Peter Beadle was forced into one change, Jimmy Oates came into the side for the suspended Nathan Summers. Dylan Bonella and Nathan Hughes were preferred to Sol Wheatley and Dean Lee who both dropped to the bench.

After kick off being delayed for 10 minutes due to delays at the ticket windows, it was Hereford who carved out the first chance of the game. Following a foul on Sam Gwynne 25-yards out, a free kick from Purdie was delivered deep into the box and put behind twice for two consecutive corners; both of which were dealt with by the Coleshill defence.

Nathan Hughes With The Cross That Led To John Mills Goal
Hereford kept up the pressure, Nathan Hughes carried the ball down the right flank before sending in a low cross to the feet of the awaiting John Mills, who made no mistake in dispatching the ball into the net past Coleshill's keeper Paul Hathaway.

Almost straight from the restart, Tony James was forced to send the ball behind for a corner. From the subsequent flag kick, Hereford did not clear the ball and Dean Rathbone seized the opportunity and shot across the face of goal and the ball went in at the far post.

In a hectic 5 minutes for Hereford, Coleshill managed to put themselves ahead. Harvey Rivers collided with Coleshill's Hughes in the box and Rathbone was able to pick the ball up and slot into an unguarded net.

Adam Page tested Coleshill’s keeper, when following a run down the left wing, he cut into the penalty area before forcing Hathaway to push the ball wide, but the resulting corner failed to trouble the Coleshill defence.

Pablo Heysham grabbed the equaliser for Hereford on the 38th minute mark; A low ball was played into the box from Dylan Bonella, and after taking a deflection, Heysham volleyed the ball into the corner of the net.

HT: Hereford 2 - Coleshill 2

At the start is the second half, it was Coleshill who drew first blood. After the ball was crossed into the box, Giovanni Dainty was able to get a shot away, with the ball just managing to beat the diving Harvey Rivers.

On the 58th minute, a Sam Gwynne cross was met by the head of Rob Purdie, but his header was deflected wide of the upright.

Just 60 seconds later Coleshill doubled their advantage, after Hereford failed to deal with a Coleshill corner, Giovanni Dainty bundled the ball into the back of Rivers' net for his second of the evening.

On the 79th minute, Coleshill's goalkeeper couldn't hold onto a Joel Edwards shot, and after a scramble in the goalmouth the ball finally landed at the feet of Nathan Hughes who made no mistake with a powerfully driven shot past Hathaway.

7 minutes later, Coleshill regained their 2 goal cushion. With Dean Rathbone through on goal, and with Harvey Rivers off his line, Rathbone found it all too easy to chip the ball over the top of the back-pedalling Rivers.

3 minutes from time, Rob Purdie was impeded in the 18-yard box and the referee didn’t hesitate to award a spot kick, Purdie stepped up to the mark and fired the ball into the top corner of the net.

Deep into injury time, Harvey Rivers released Adam Page down the left, and after he cut into the box, his diagonal shot was agonisingly wide of the upright.

After scoring 4 goals at home, Hereford will be very disappointed to have shipped 5 goals and lost, when in truth all 5 goals should have been prevented.

With 16 goals in the last 2 games, supporters can’t say there’s no entertainment value in the Midland Premier League, although a nice 1-0 win would perhaps go down nicely with our next game at near neighbours Westfields on Bank Holiday Monday.
