This coming Saturday sees the first event in the Starlite Rooms since the demise of Hereford United. King Mantis and Rocky Road to Ruin will play live at the gig which has been organised by HUST.
"After King Mantis's effort in trying to prevent the sad demise of Hereford United, we're honoured to be back for the swift return of football to Edgar Street and kicking off the re-opening of the Starlite Rooms," said James, bass player with the band.
"There is no doubt in underestimating the work involved from the people who have made this possible and I'm sure after the last year this City will embrace these new beginnings from the outset.
"This is history and something we can tell our Grandkids one day that we were there at the beginning.
"Long live Hereford FC!!.
"It's gonna be some party, see you there."
Kelvin, the drummer with Rocky Road to Ruin, has also commented.
"We were the first band to play at the refurbished Starlite Rooms under HUFC for a birthday party for Nibbo and we will be the first band to play for Hereford FC but to celebrate 90 years of HUFC."
Paul Stevens, who is stepping down from his role with HUST to pursue other commitments with Hereford Council and UITC, has been involved in organising the event
"I
do hope as many of you as possible will come along to this free event
in the Starlite Room," Stevens told BN.
"James Smith has agreed to supply some food at a
small cost to soak up the beer.
"There will be some buckets around for
donations towards the HUST share purchase."
