Ben Smith Column In Big Issue

Ben Smith At Steve Guinan's Charity Game Played At Westfields Recently

Former Hereford United midfielder Ben Smith has started a regular column in the Big Issue magazine.

His first topic is entitled 'The Greed At The Top Of The Game Is All Consuming' and is about Sepp Blatter and FIFA.

As it happens events have moved quickly since his column was penned.

“Football’s moral compass has often been questioned, and the almost deafening cries of endemic corruption within FIFA have been widely ignored by Sepp Blatter and his cronies," writes Smith

“In any other walk of life men such as Blatter would have been removed from office in disgrace or at least had the decency to fall on their sword."

Smith also wants to see more money moving through the game.

"Surely there is a moral obligation for Premier League clubs, the FA and FIFA to redistribute the vast riches they are privy to? Unfortunately, the greed at the top of the game is all-consuming and the decision-makers have forgotten why the man on the street loves the game so much.”
