Hereford FC football secretary Martin Watson has told the Western Daily Press that there are a 'dozen or so' serious candidates for the manager of the recently formed club.
"There were, of course, the usual experts from Football Manager-type computer games that we have discarded but there are a dozen or so serious candidates."
Former Hereford United manager Pete Beadle and player Jimmy Harvey are in the running for the job.
"But there are some other very good applications, it's certainly not going to be a two-horse race between Beadle and Harvey.
"We are continuing to work through the list and then we can choose whom we would like to interview.
"We have not put a time scale on it but, of course, we would like to make an appointment as soon as we can.
"The new manager would, no doubt, like to get around and talk to potential players for next season and he will also need to put together a pre-season programme."
