A physically stronger home side won the 2-1. It might have been worse for the Young Bulls but for some excellent goalkeeping which included a penalty save from James Aurelius.
Bilston went ahead but Tom Davies got one back before Bilston sealed the tie with a second goal.
"I think they out-battled us," said Purdie.
"They won a lot of second balls.
"Sometimes you need to grow up quickly and I didn't think we did today.
"We're a small team and we haven't had to compete in games but tonight we had to and we fell short in that side of it.
"As long as we learn from it then at least we'll get something out of the game.
"We didn't win our individual battles. You've got to earn that right to play your football and I don't think we did that."
