Former Hereford United goalkeeper Dan Hanford, now with Carlisle, came to Edgar Street after a spell with the Glenn Hoddle Academy full of hope for the future.
But, as he told the News and Star, it wasn't a good time for the young Welshman as he didn't play many games and wasn't always paid.
"My toughest time ever. I was about to make my league debut against Plymouth Argyle, then got called in and told I wasn’t making it after all. They had a loan keeper, football politics, and so on. Then I was out of the team.
"In the Conference I ended up playing 15 games, got dropped and they didn’t want a keeper on the bench. So most of that season was useless.
"Yeah, worst time of my life."
