News Round-Up

Welling are to being upgrading their ground to FA Category A status. The work involves adding extra terracing and crash barriers, two new turnstiles, and upgrading the floodlights to meet the eligibility rules for the Conference by the March deadline. Last night's planned televised game between Cambridge and Kidderminster is now planned to take place tomorrow, subject to another pitch inspection, after failing a third test yesterday afternoon.

Kidderminster chairman Mark Serrell says he is not planning to leave the club, but would step aside if a new investor to take the club forward was found. Serrell told the local press the club had rejected an offer from former Swindon owner Jed McCrory, who wanted to bring a string of young players from the top two divisions to the club.

Port Vale former Directors Perry Deakin and Peter Miller face bankruptcy proceedings over the nil-paid shares issued to them during the club's financial problems. Miller took £250,000 in shares, and Deakin £100,000, in 2011 in order to get elected to the board. The liquidators of the former club are asking fans to fund the £6,000 court costs of bankrupting the pair after requests to pay for the shares were ignored.

Chester have signed goalkeeper Aaron Chapman and defender Matty Brown on loan from Chesterfield. Brown, 23, has played three times for the Spireites this term, while Chapman, also 23, hasn't featured since signing in the summer. Southport have signed striker Vinny Mukendi on a short term deal. The former Macclesfield man had two previous loan spells with the Sandgrounders in 2011 and 2012.
