Hereford United chairman David Keyte's Harry Topper won the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby yesterday afternoon.
It came in at 5/1.
"Last year he was running in novice chases
and we gave him time and we weren't able to give him the chance to do
that in a race like this - I'm afraid it's just a case of him warming up
over his early fences," said trainer Kim Bailey.
"He's got guts and that's what takes him away from most horses. He
doesn't want to be headed and to give him his due he hardly has been.
"There was no point coming here today to learn if he was fit and
that's why he was fit today. We'll give him a few days now to let him
get over this. He's in the Hennessy but I don't think we'll be going
there.
"The Gold Cup obviously has to be something you think about."
