News Round-Up


Nuneaton have signed striker Dave Hibbert on non-contract terms. The former Shrewsbury striker, 27, retired from the full time game in April after battling a knee injury for three years. Billericay chairman Steve Kent has called for a ban on betting on semi-pro matches after the Conf South side was linked to match fixing. Kent says the footballing authorities are reluctant to face up to the problem.

Grimsby chairman John Fenty says he will hand the club over if someone suitable was to come in and take the reins. He told a fans forum on Monday that he would expect his loans to be repaid if 'Roman Abramovich' walked in but would negotiate a deal if 'a cocktail of people' took over, telling fans "there is no way that my loans would ever hold this club to ransom or put it in trouble – absolutely not."

Morecambe chairman Peter McGuigan says investment talks are progressing. The Shrimps owner says the club will progress further with a cash injection, and is looking to increase average attendances to 2,000. Forest Green boss Dave Hockaday has called on fans to back the players after a run of five losses in six games. Many Gumpers fans are calling for Hockaday's head with his expensive side closer to the relegation spots than the play-offs.

Barnet top scorer Jake Hyde is expected to spend an extended spell on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments in training. The 23 year old on returned on Saturday, as a late sub, from a hamstring problem before damaging the ankle in training.
