News Round-Up

Halifax have received substantial criticism from fans after announcing vastly increased ticket prices for the coming season yesterday. The reformed side have put Adult admission up by £4 following their promotion to the fifth tier, charging £17 for all areas of the ground. Season tickets have also been priced at £319, with no early discount, making them the third most expensive ticket in the division.

Barnet say they have permission to play Football League matches at the Hive. The local council has told the press they amended planning permission at the training complex to allow 'professional football' to be played at the site if the Bees regain their League status. Kidderminster winger Ricky Shakes has joined Boreham Wood after failing to agree a new deal with the club.

Nuneaton have confirmed the signing of forward Connor Taylor following his release from Walsall. The 20 year old has signed a one year deal after a loan spell at the Boro last term. Gateshead are trialling three more players in pre-season. Former Heed pair Robbie Briggs and Dan Smith, brother of manager Anth, have both been playing in the NPL in recent seasons, while ex-Newcastle trainee Marcus Maddison has returned from a spell in Scotland.

Northampton have announced a £12million redevelopment of Sixfields in conjunction with the local council. The project, funded by a council loan, will see capacity increased to 10,000 and a hotel and conference centre added to the site in addition to housing and a small retail development. Luton have released midfielder Danny Spiller and defender Simon Ainge from their contracts. Former Gillingham man Spiller has not played for the club due to injury after arriving last summer, while Ainge was signed by Paul Buckle but deemed surplus to John Still's requirements.

Grimsby say they were only doing ex-Bradford defender Matt Clarke 'a favour' in allowing him to train with the club, and that he is signing for Halifax. Chester have issued a statement saying they are disappointed that a former club employee was to not face charges over the disappearance of money from the club earlier this year. They say the matter is now closed.
