News Round-Up

Port Vale boss Micky Adams claims his current budget is a 'bottom six' one for League One. The side have sold 5,000 season tickets for their return to the division, with owner Norman Smurthwaite promising to increase figures to stop the Valiants from returning back to League Two. They have been linked with Macclesfield defender Thierry Audel, who is out of contract at Moss Rose.

Aldershot have been pushed out to 200/1 by bookies for the coming Conference season. BetVictor have slashed their odds for a bottom four finish from 6/1 to 11/10 since the AGM. Forest Green are favourites with 10 of 14 bookies quoting odds, with Luton favourites with two others, and the last two quoting them as joint favourites.

Barnet face ongoing concerns from residents about the first team's move to play games at their Hive training ground. Local Harrow MP Bob Blackman has organised a meeting, in addition to one this week from the local residents association, over concern about parking, noise, and other complaints. The Bees recently submitted an application to extend the alcohol licence on the site to 1am while the local paper, which charmingly describes the Conference as 'the top tier of amateur football', suggests the club will not be allowed to play at the ground if they gain promotion to a 'professional league'.

Coventry's Administrator has had four firm bids for the club by yesterday's deadline. Miscreant owners SISU have lodged a bid, but it is unclear whether a proposal from ground owners ACL was also submitted in time. Lincoln defender Andrew Boyce has signed a new two year deal with the club. The former Gainsborough defender had been reported to have attracted interest from a pair of Football League sides.
