The four week closure of a stretch of Newmarket Street has begun.
Cones were laid out last night for the closure to enable sewerage works to take place for the Old Livestock Market development. Traffic chaos is widely anticipated to strike the city tomorrow with the thousands of vehicles that usually use the closed piece filtered down Edgar Street instead.
The council have set up a live map of the roadworks and traffic levels which, at noon on Sunday, is already showing slow traffic through the diversion.
