Hereford United supporters who leave their vehicles in council owned car parks, such as Merton Meadow, to watch the Bulls can pay by phone as from January 28th.
The new arrangement has been introduced by Herefordshire Council after trials elsewhere have proved successful.
And if the game should over-run or go into extra time, one can extend the parking time without leaving the ground.
"PayByPhone is a new convenient service for users,
providing helpful payment options, which is particularly good if you don’t know
how long you’re going to be," said Councillor Graham Powell.
“The handy text message service lets you know
when your parking ticket is due to run out, allowing you to extend your parking
time without having to return to your vehicle.
We recognise that life is stressful enough without worrying about your
parking ticket, so we hope this new service will help in some small way.”
In addition to the parking fee, there will be
a small service charge of 20p to pay by phone, 10p for a reminder text message
and an additional 20p to extend the parking time.
If PayByPhone has not been used before, users
will need to register their vehicle registration number and credit or debit
card. This can be completed in advance online
at www.paybyphone.co.uk/registration, by downloading the PayByPhone app on a smartphone
or by calling 0330 400 7275.
