Foyle Sticks By His Team Selection

Martin Foyle has said that he sticks by his team selection for this afternoon's trophy tie which the Bulls lost 3-0.

The Hereford United manager made six changes from the side that played against Cheltenham last Tuesday but, especially in the first half, they were outplayed by a useful Chelmsford City side who look like promotion candidates in the Conference South.

"Absolutely disappointed with them," Foyle told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I felt sorry for the punters who paid their money to come and watch.

"Was I being too clever today? No not at all.

"I've made so many changes. There were tired bodies, some had taken knocks, two on four bookings. So many things, two were ill. It was a mine-field.

"It's been a night-mare couple of days. Stef has had three days off with bad guts. I've had to put Clucas at left back because Joe is on four bookings. It's been very hard.

"But I've got no excuses, I picked the side for today including the ones that has come in.

"I've given them a life-line to show me what you can do. And to be honest they've showed absolutely nothing.

"It was very flat. I've never seen us give the ball away so cheaply. And people running away from the ball.

"I've got no excuses, Chelmsford were the better side. They were very good today."

Chelmsford scored twice in six minutes so what happened to Hereford's defence who have been playing well recently.

"I gave Towner some match practice today before going into the Xmas period. I'm going to need everybody over that Xmas period as Josh has gone down. We just haven't got the numbers I need.

Josh O'Keefe had to be subbed
"Should I have played Joe Heath today? (who is on four bookings) But Ebbsfleet is in my mind because I still think we can do well in the League.

"Marley as well but he's on four bookings. I didn't want him to miss Ebbsfleet or Kidderminster.

"We're just short of personnel so I need to get to that January window and re-inforce.

"I've got Junior on non-contract, also Simon Hackney and the two loanees that go back in early January.

"James McQuilkin was very negative, kept coming back and going inside with his first touch.

"It's every one of them but I just thought we were scared to death."
