The Bulls entertain Macclesfield Town in the opening match of the 2012/13 Conference season.
The two sides have met in each of the last three seasons, with the Bulls failing to win any of those six encounters. 12 months ago the Silkmen came to Edgar Street and underlined the incompetence in the management with a 4-0 win that included an outrageous lob from Ross Draper that beat stand-in keeper Russell Hoult with remarkable ease. Only five of the 16 man Bulls squad are still at Edgar Street, and even fewer Silkmen survive.
The Bulls are still looking to recruit further players after Martin Foyle assembled his target of 18 players still looking a little light up front. A fourth striker is a definite target with eight games coming up in the opening month, though the Bulls did field Harry Pell in a more attacking role against Bristol City last week to some good effect. The presence of the Premier Sports cameras and the rare Friday night football event should bring out a decent crowd to open the season.
The Silkmen will travel to Edgar Street with manager Steve King having managed to sign as many players as the Bulls currently have. He has acquired a midfielder for every occasion, and promises fast paced attacking. His arrivals have limited experience at this level, with many of his recruits coming from lower league sides in the South East and living in accomodation paid for by the club.
Hereford United vs Macclesfield Town, Edgar Street, Friday 10th August, 7.30pm.
