News Round-Up


Rotherham have made tomorrow's season opener with Burton all-ticket after advance sales put the match close to the 12,000 capacity of their new stadium. Macclesfield have loaned striker Ben Mills to Chester for an initial month. The January signing from Nantwich has made only 12 appearances since his arrival at Moss Rose.

Former Bulls loanee Stephen Jennings has signed a two year deal with Coventry despite late interest from Fleetwood Town. The 27 year old signs for the Sky Blues despite them having been taken to court earlier in the week for unpaid rent as they dispute the charges on their stadium with the owners following their drop to League One. Hyde striker Scott Spencer is under investigation after a Barrow fan claimed Spencer spat at him. The former Everton trainee has apologised for the incident.

Portsmouth have been told by the Football League they can start the new season and they will not receive the planned ten point deduction until they find a new owner. The club have signed ten players on one month rolling contracts, including former Barnet striker Izale McLeod, one time Bulls trialist and former Doncaster man Mustafa Dumbuya, and ex-Shrewsbury firework enthusiast Luke Rodgers. They are likely to be joined at the club by a number of loanees ahead of tomorrow's opening match.

Gateshead have signed striker Ryan Donaldson on a deal until January. The former Newcastle trainee, 21, made a handful of appearances for the Magpies' first team as well as spells on loan at Hartlepool and Tranmere. Braintree have signed Cambridge striker Michael Gash on a month long loan. The former York striker has dropped down the pecking order at the Abbey Stadium.

Mansfield have loaned midfielder Paul Bolland to Conf North side Harrogate Town for the season. The 32 year old has only started four games for the Stags since joining on a two year deal last summer. Conf North side Solihull Moors have signed veteran striker Stern John. The 35 year old former Birmingham man has had a year out of the game after a season playing back in Trinidad and Tobago.

Lincoln have signed striker Marc McCammon on non-contract terms. The 34 year old ended last season on loan at Sincil Bank after a brief spell at Braintree. Macclesfield have loaned defender Carl Tremarco to Maltese side FC Floriana, where Stephen Vaughan and Mark Wright have just set up camp, until the end of the season. The 26 year old Liverpudlian has been with the Silkmen for the last three seasons.
