At least two Hereford United supporters are to carry the olympic torch this morning as it continues its journey through Herefordshire.
The torch is due at Lugwardine at 10.55 and expected to arrive at Hereford at 11.06.
Here are their details as provided by their respective nominators.
Rob has served as chairman of the Hereford and District Branch MS
Society. He has raised over £50000 for the branch by running the London
Marathon in 2001 and 2003 and the New York Marathon 2001. He encouraged
10 friends to join him doing the Great North Run in 2002. He cycled from
Lands End to John O'groats in 2004 and in 2006 cycle 1500 miles around
all Premiership and League 2 football clubs. He looks after his wife who
has MS.
"My sister is a true inspiration to me and many young people of
Herefordshire. She is 28 and works at a local Children's Nursery. A
year or so ago she won an Award from the Girl Guides for her dedication
over a number of years as a guide leader. The most extraordinary
thing is that she's done so much whilst dealing with the fact that she
has not got any arms. She was born this way. Never has she ever
complained about her situation, she's simply got on with and made the
best of it. For so many people with such a disability it would have
been easy to sit back and not find work, not learn how to drive, not
volunteer. But my sister - she did and continues to. She's
brilliant and deserves all the credit she gets.
