Luton Town's chief executive Gary Sweet thinks Luton are too big for the Conference, whilst handing a backhanded compliment to the Bulls.
He told the local press: “No disrespect to the Conference, because it’s a good place for a
club to come and rehabilitate and recover, but with a big club like
this, we are out of sorts and out of shape for this league.
“The Conference isn’t great at dealing with very large clubs like Luton. Look at the two clubs coming down – no
disrespect to them – but they won’t struggle as much as Plymouth would
have done.
“It’s really about us.
“When we took the business out of administration four years ago it
took two to three years to really get rid of the chaos – it was in a
real mess. I think this last year is the first that we’ve really begun to professionally develop as a business, but that’s about us.
“When there’s a million pounds difference between League Two and the
Conference, it would have been easier to do it in League Two, I can
assure you.”
