News Round-Up

Bristol Rovers have reported a loss of nearly £3.4million for last season, 40% of which was expenses on their new ground project. They hope to move to the 21,500 seat arena in 2014. The club's AGM was told that they had 'dramatically' cut the wage bill this term to a League Two level, but new manager Mark McGhee still thought his budget was 'competitive'. Plymouth defender Onismor Bhasera will miss two games after being called up by Zimbabwe for their African Cup of Nations 2013 qualifier at the end of the month.

Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio says he is still after a 'tall, physical' striker and hopes to complete a loan deal this week. In a poll on the Vital Walsall website, just 16% have backed ex-Bull Dean Smith to be the club's long term manager. 42% want to see him replaced immediately, with the same amount prepared to give him another month with the Saddlers currently a point inside the League One drop zone.

Wales are investigating whether former Bulls striker Gary Hooper is eligible to play for the country. Hooper, 24 and Essex born, has also had a similar unsuccessful enquiry from Scotland. Darlington fans are anxiously awaiting news from negotiations on a deal for the club after a promised statement from the Administrator last night failed to materialise. They have been promised an update later today.

Bradford want loanee Andrew Davies to be their captain next season, but fear his current wages at Stoke are far beyond their means. The local press say the Bantams are paying just a tenth of his current wage to the Premier League side for his services with the 27 year old still having a year left on his contract. Oxford have signed forward Lee Holmes on loan from Southampton for an initial month. The winger, 24, debuted for Derby as a 15 year old.

Kettering have announced a fundraising match with a Coventry reserve side for tomorrow night. The Supporters Trust will be accepting donations for entry to the match. York's board say they are not personally profiting from the club's proposed move to a new stadium. They say the club will repay owners JM Packaging's £1.3million in loans to the club since they took over in 2005, but no further money.

Port Vale have signed midfielders Paul Marshall and Chris Shuker on non-contract deals until the end of the season. 22 year old Marshall has drifted around non-league since leaving Blackpool, while 29 year old Shuker spent last season at Morecambe.
