News Round-Up

Burton have announced that veteran defender Darren Moore has left the club by mutual consent. The former West Brom captain, 37, played just two full games this season due to an assortment of injuries and is now expected to retire. Yeovil have submitted plans for a supermarket on land next to their Huish Park home. The application is part of the club's plans to make itself self-sufficient.

Gillingham are assessing midfielder Oliver Lee ahead of arranging a deal when the loan window reopens. The West Ham youngster will not be offered a new deal by the Hammers when his current contract expires in the summer, and has already turned out for Dagenham this season. Port Vale have failed to meet the January repayment on their £2.25million council loan. The payment, around £20,000, was due on January 31st, but they only paid December's bill the day before. A council spokesman has urged the club to come clean on it's finances.

Northampton have returned loanee Saido Berahino to West Brom after his loan spell expired. The 18 year old scored six times in 15 games during three months at Sixfields but is now destined for a League One side. Torquay are to sign Reading central defender Angus McDonald on loan for the remainder of the season. Despite his name, the teenager is an England u19 international and is a replacement for the departed Chris Robertson.

More problems and confusion at Darlington, where a backer the Rescue Group had hoped would fund their planned takeover of the club has withdrawn after apparently failing to agree terms on a deal. However confusion is now arising after a group calling itself "Darlington Supporters United" then appeared last night with a statement planning to raise £250,000. The existing Rescue Group say they know nothing of the new organisation, and they were not responding to questions from the local press. The club is not expected to hold another home match until March if Saturday's game is postponed.

Northampton are to sign Reading striker Brett Williams on a months loan when the window reopens on Thursday. The 24 year old has just finished a spell at Rotherham, scoring twice in 13 games. Rotherham have replaced Williams with Bury striker Shaun Harrad, who has signed a one month loan. The former Burton striker only joined the Shakers from Northampton in August, but is yet to score in 18 appearances in League One.

Dagenham have confirmed they have lost the services of loan striker Cristian Montano, with the Colombian rejoining Notts County on loan instead.
