A Game of Two Halves said Pitman

Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman felt this afternoon's drawn match at Edgar Street between the Bulls and Cheltenham was a 'game of two halves'.

"I thought we were the better side first half," Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"And I think they were probably the better side second half."

Tom Barkhuizen had a good opportunity to score a second goal for the Bulls late in the second half.

"You would have banked on him to finish that and then you think maybe our luck wasn't quite with us again today.

"Our early goal helped and I felt throughout the course of the first half we put pressure on them but I thought they put pressure on us second half."

Pitman felt that his side failed to 'get out' during the second half.

"When you are defending the slope, there's about six foot from one end to the other, it becomes difficult when they put you under pressure. It's hard to get out.

"And I felt we didn't get out as well as we could have done at times."

Keith Hall for H&W then asked whether Pitman 'could he have gone with two up at any time during the game'.

"Everyone keeps coming back with this all the time, two up top.

"Every time we get a cross in the box there are at least two or three players in the box.

"Everyone keeps coming back with two up top. What difference is it going to make?

"I've got three up top, Tom, Delroy and Joe Colbeck. And two centre midfielders catching them. So you could say there's five up top.

"Everyone keeps coming back with this all the time but the system suits the players that we have got.

"Yes at times we may have to play two up top but it's working for us at the moment. It worked for us last year and the players like it and it suits the players we have here."

One set-back was to see Benoit Dalibard having to leave the pitch with what looked like a hamstring problem.

"Disappointing again, we've got two or three left backs here and they keep getting injured. It's frustrating for him and for us.

"Luckily we've got Clisty back in, Rob Purdie can fill in there and hopefully Stefan (Stam) will be joining us this week again."
