Preview: Oxford vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday to take on Oxford United in a League Two game.

The two sides met in October at Edgar Street, with the U's winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from teenage loanee Robert Hall. The Bulls hope history repeats itself after both of last season's games ended up with 0-2 scorelines, with the Bulls taking three unlikely points at the Kassam after going down at home.

Oxford will go into the match without striker Deane Smalley after they opted to loan him to Bradford for the rest of the season. The 23 year old has played in all but four of their League games this season, but has started only seven times. His departure comes with boss Chris Wilder wanting to 'freshen things up' in the forward department with nine goal James Constable the only player still at the club with more than three goals. Their League position is reliant heavily on their defence in recent weeks, with five clean sheets in their last seven matches.

The Bulls travel to Oxfordshire in similar form to their last trip. They went East last February with a 100% record on the road in the new year, and do the same again this term. Wins at Burton and Dagenham, without conceding a goal, have helped the Bulls to re-establish the four point safety gap that first appeared in early October. The managerial team will have to decide whether to continue with the 4-5-1 formation deployed last weeked, or return to the 4-4-2 that has had mixed success in recent weeks.

Oxford United vs Hereford United, Kassam Stadium, Saturday 21st January, 3.00pm.
