Oxford Sign Johnson

Oxford have signed striker Oli Johnson following his departure from Norwich.

The 24 year old has signed a deal until the end of the season. He started his professional career late with Stockport three years ago before moving to Norwich, but he spent most of the last 12 months at Yeovil, scoring three times in 26 games.

He is eligible for tomorrow's match with the Bulls, with boss Chris Wilder telling their official site: "Oli is an exciting prospect and he has a great chance to impress here. He knows there are areas of his game he needs to work on but he has real talent and we look forward to working with him. I know there were five or six clubs in higher divisions chasing his signature but we are delighted that he has seen what we are building here and wants to be a part of it. It speaks volumes for the club that he wants to prove himself here.

"With Deane Smalley going out on loan at Bradford we wanted to bring another forward in and Oli adds something different to the mix. "

Meanwhile, former Bulls loanee Chris Weale has joined Northampton on an initial months loan. The former Yeovil man, who had two seperate one match spells at Edgar Street, has made just three appearances for Leicester this season after playing in the majority of their games last term.

Weale comes in with senior stopper Shane Higgs injured. Bermudan Freddy Hall was given two matches to prove his worth, but conceded five last week against Southend.
