Life isn't easy at Southend. The club have well documented financial problems and didn't need to be targeted by thieves this week.
The intruders were after copper piping and whilst at Roots Hall caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
It is hoped that repairs will be completed in time for the visit of Hereford United on August 6th.
"The club is not flush with cash and the costs of the repairs will hurt us," said a club spokesman.
"It is money we could have been spending on better things, like strengthening the team."
