Hughton Praises Blues Fans

Birmingham manager Chris Hughton praised his side's support from their fans after yesterday's game.

Despite a large group of late arrivals opting to break their way into the ground, and a trio of idiots chancing life and limb on the rickety roof of the Meadow End, the game passed off without major incident with Hughton's blunt Blues failing to give the large away support anything to over-excite them.

Hughton told the press after the game: "The support was magnificent, seeing Blues fans packing out a whole stand away from home was really good to see and they got right behind their team throughout. That level of backing is really appreciated."

Reports suggest that, prior to the game, the club were informed by the Championship side and Police that only around 500 Birmingham supporters were expected to make the trip. Around a thousand more turned up unannounced, leaving the 800 capacity away section woefully inadequate.

The last time the Blues travelled to Edgar Street, in 2008, the total attendance was just 553.
