Hereford United's near neighbours Shrewsbury Town face a wait and see afternoon knowing they even if they defeat Oxford, it might not be enough for automatic promotion for the Shropshire club.
This morning Wycombe are in third place in the League Two table and Shrewsbury fourth. One point separates the two clubs.
And both teams face mid-table opposition whose seasons are effectively over.
"It is a great thing to be involved in," manager Graham Turner told the Shropshire Star.
"I would have preferred it to be in our own hands but it’s not and we have to make sure we win our home game.
"It’s of paramount importance we keep our eye on the ball in terms of our game and make sure when we sit down in the dressing room at just before 5pm, we have no regrets."
Should Shrewsbury, or Wycombe, miss out on automatic promotion they will be in the play-offs with Accrington, Gillingham and either Torquay or Stevenage.
However, should that happen, Turner will know that being the highest placed club going into the play-offs can be of little advanatage. He only has to remember his time with Hereford United when two years running the Bulls were favourites for promotion from the play-offs and on both occassions to failed to go up.
