Kyle McCarthy in Norway

Kyle McCarthy has been in Norway with the Welsh Under 19 squad. The Hereford United youngster, pictured wearing the number three shirt, played the first game but had to miss the second game.

Kyle's Dad, Mike, has sent BN this report.

Kyle was on the bench for the Norway game on Saturday, as he had a slight hamstring problem, but he did not take part, how ever Wales lost that game to a very good Norway side as the Wales manager Brian Flynn put it.

Todays game saw Kyle return to action against Moldova, where he played a full 90 minutes, in one of his old positions, up front, which was a change from his regular left back role, and as a result from an corner taken by Kyle, Wales scored in the 36th minute.

Wales had numerous chances and again in the 87th minute Wales scored again, eventually winning the game 2 - 0.

In the other match surprisingly, Norway lost to Serbia 3 - 0, and as Serbia had beaten Moldova by 4 - 0 on the weekend, this meant that Wales, Serbia, and Norway all finished on 6 points each, but Serbia finish top, and qualify for the finals on a goal difference of 4,

Wales finished in second place, and the favorites , Norway finished 3rd.

Despite performing well on a personal level, Kyle will be gutted at coming so close.
