Former Bulls defender Dean Beckwith has been released by Northampton.
After initially being given until Friday to consider his future, with boss Gary Johnson strongly hinting that the 27 year old needed to move from his Gillingham base to have a future at Sixfields, the club have released a statement confirming Beckwith's departure.
The former Gillingham trainee was a regular during his two years with the Cobblers, joining them from the Bulls after four years at Edgar Street.
Meanwhile Burton boss Paul Peschisolido wants an answer from Tony James within the next week as to whether he is to remain a Burton player. The Canadian told the Burton Mail: “I wasn’t expecting my phone to be red hot because people need to sit down with their families and talk about what they want to do next.
“These lads are now free agents and it’s only natural they should want a bit of time to think things over. I’m not holding them to a timescale, but I would think a week or so is a reasonable amount of time to give them to arrive at their decisions.”
At Forest Green, former Bulls striker - and managerial candidate - Steve Guinan is one of six players to be released. Guinan, 35, was playing part-time for the Gumpers while working with Hartpury College as their Football Academy Manager.
