Gannon 'Smuggled' Out Of Match

Tuesday's opponents Port Vale are in disarray after their 3-0 loss to Accrington.

With assistant manager Geoff Horsfield reported to be scouting a game at Stevenage rather than taking up his usual duties, boss Jim Gannon also chose to avoid the team bus. He also chose to avoid the post-match press conference and the fans afterwards, being reportedly smuggled out of the Crown Ground amid angry supporter protests without even giving a post match talk to his players.

Defender Exodus Geoghaghon had to be dragged away from brawling with fans at the end of the game, with the post-match interview from captain Marc Richards suggesting the Peterboro loanee may quit the club after the incident.

The game saw ex-Bull Lee Collins dropped to the bench and fan favourite Gary Roberts dropped while regulars Louis Dodds and Gareth Owen were also omitted from the matchday squad. New signing Dominic Blizzard, a former Gannon player at Stockport, was given a debut with fansite One Vale Fan reporting:

'I have it on good authority, from solid sources that I trust, that relations between manager and some key players are close to... scrub that, are non-existent. We’re not just talking about midfield playmakers with troubled pasts, here, we’re talking about a core of key professionals at the club.'

With some fans calling for protests at Tuesday's game, the attention of the Vale team may not be on the pitch.
