Former Hereford United player Kevin Sheedy has been linked with a post at Newcastle.
The Daily Mail has suggested that manager Chris Hughton is considering Sheedy as his assistant. Sheedy is currently academy coach at Everton.
The two played for Ireland in Euro 88.
Sheedy was born close to Builth Wells in 1959 and started his career at Edgar Street before moving to Liverpool.
Brain Kerr, the former Republic of Ireland manager, is said to be favourite for the job.
