Hereford United vice-chairman Tim Russon spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester earlier this morning about the departure of Simon Davey and the search for a new manager.
"It was a difficult decision to make," said Russon.
"We've been told we have a good set of players and we shouldn't be where we are.
"But our record is woeful, at some stage we had to make a decision.
"Davey's contract was for two years, but there are clauses in that contract which make way for a settlement.
"I can't obviously go into that as it's unfair on the manager. It was a confidential agreement. But we have made that settlement. That's been agreed and we move on."
So who next?
"We're not going to rule anyone in or anybody out at this stage.
"We've already had a flurry of people coming in by email. David took quite a few calls last night at home from want to be managers and agents.
"I've taken quite a few calls as well and we are going to spend the day sitting down looking through them and touching base with some of them and drawing up a shortlist.
"Then we will go through and again try and sort out the right man for Hereford."
