The Bulls meet Exeter City tonight for a Johnstones Paint Trophy match at Edgar Street.
The two sides last met in the 'Football League Trophy' back in the 2003/4 season. New caretaker boss Jamie Pitman and defender Ryan Green started the game in midfield with Tony James on the bench. The Exeter side features three future Bulls in Alex Jeannin, Gareth Sheldon, and Sean Canham with goals from David Brown and Steve Guinan giving the Bulls a 2-0 win.
The Bulls go into the game looking for a first win in ten matches in all competitions. With Simon Davey out the door the team sheet for tonight's encounter could be anyone's guess, but then it was probably going to be that way anyway. The Bulls need to name six of the players that started the game last Saturday, or will start the game this Saturday, or six of this season's regulars. There has been no word whether Tony James is eligible for tonight's game, with Burton still in the competiton, so he could be one of those to miss out.
Exeter make their first trip to Edgar Street in five years, with the clubs managing to miss each other in League encounters since the Bulls returned to the 92. While they lie seventh in the League One table their position is deceptively lofty as they have won just four matches. Ryan Harley and Richard Logan share top scorers duty with four League goals each, while expensive Shrewsbury flop Jamie Cureton scored twice in the first round win over Yeovil. Former Bulls midfielder Bertrand Cozic remains a bit-player for the Grecians and is likely to feature in some part.
