Hereford United manager Simon Davey admitted that his side wasn't at the races this afternoon at Burton where they were defeated 3-0.
"Terrible, it wasn't good," Davey told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "We were not at the races.
"The better side won. No excuses."
Davey started the game with a 3-5-2 system and changed at halftime, when 2-0 down, to a 4-4-2 system.
"We worked at it (3-5-2) all week to try and get the three big lads at the back, maybe pushing the wingbacks on a bit further. We changed the two strikers as well. No excuses we were poor on the day.
"You do all the work at half time, change, make a substitution and yet a deflected goal goes in the top of the net.
"Systems don't win you games, players win you games and whatever the system you put on that pitch players have got to accept responsibility.
"They have to make sure they do a job when they are asked to do a job.
"I think that probably today we haven't done our jobs and that is including myself."
Davey gave a start to Amadou Rabihou.
"He's not got a goal. He's had a couple of chances. He maybe should have done better with the chances.
"It's early days. He's been with us 10/14 days.
"I'm not going to blame him for that."
After creating 18 chances last week, chances were few and far between this afternoon.
"When we did get them we didn't look clinical. Low on confidence, lack of confidence within the group.
"We've got to get it right. We've got a big game against Oxford coming up."
It was some 45 minutes after the end of the game before Davey appeared to speak to Keith Hall of H&W. All of the players including those who were on the bench were 'locked in' the dressing room.
