The Football League have elected Southend chairman Ron Martin to be League Two's representative on the League's board.
With his club battling two winding up orders, having just a handful of players due to a transfer embargo, and in debt to the tune of £6million, Martin has been chosen on his ability to... no, we're not entirely sure.
Nor are the Southend fans whose reaction to the news on the Shrimper Zone forum is little short of sheer astonishment.
Martin told Southend's official website: "I have served previously on the Football League board as a representative for League Two and I was keen to stand again. I would like to continue to influence the future of the game, especially during these challenging economic times as the difference between the Championship and Leagues One and Two continues to grow.
"By being involved at board level I can represent the interests of League Two teams and Southend United."
