'New' Referee at Edgar Street on Saturday

It isn't often a referee has been officiating at League level for eight seasons and yet hasn't had the privilege to come to Edgar Street.

All will be put right next Saturday when Eddie Ilderton from Tyne and Weir takes charge of the League Two game between Hereford United and Rotherham.

As far as BN is aware the Bulls have only met Ilderson once and that was at Bury in January 2007.

The game came just hours after the decision of Andy Williams not to join Bristol Rovers. Willo showed he wanted to stay with the Bulls with perhaps the best goal he has ever scored. This from the BN report:

Just 4 minutes after his entrance Andy Williams picked up the ball and from fully 30 yards unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot that scorched into the net leaving Warrington grasping thin air. The locally born youngster stood facing the bench with his arm raised as Hereford and Worcester's Keith Hall screamed "look what you missed Bristol Rovers"! It was truly a goal to remember.

"That goal was right out of the top drawer. It was Rooneyesque. If it had happened in the Premiership everybody would have been raving about it," said Hereford United manager Graham Turner.

The game ended 2-2.

Meanwhile this season Ilderton has been in charge of 33 games and has given out 85 yellow and 5 red cards.
