The Bulls take on Colchester United on Saturday in a League One match at Edgar Street.
As one of the 'C' teams the U's were one of the sides beaten in the dismal first half of the season, and the Bulls will hope to complete only their second double of the season following December's shock 2-1 win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium when Steve Guinan and Lionel Ainsworth gave the Bulls a two goal half-time lead. Colchester have won only once in nineteen previous visits to Edgar Street, with their previous visit seeing them lose on penalties in a Second Round FA Cup match in December 1997.
Although it has been generally accepted, the Bulls will be officially relegated on Saturday afternoon if they fail to win or Carlisle collect one more point. One thing the Bulls fans, and players, will want is to not finish bottom - especially after doing the double over Cheltenham. The threadbare Bulls squad will be stretched until the end of the season, and a few of the fringe players will be given chance to shine - if they can keep themselves fit and ready for duty.
The U's season has been disappointing from their perspective. Expecting to be challengers for promotion pre-season they have spent more time flirting with relegation. Their loss to the Bulls sparked a nine match unbeaten run that pulled them away from danger, but recent form has been typical of a side with little to play for and they come into the match on the back of three straight defeats. Both sides have players that are playing for contracts, and some don't seem too concerned whether they get offers.
