Had my knuckles mildly rapped by suggesting that Walsall was a drinking desert. The logic was simply that the ground is some way from the town centre. However, Eveshambull has pointed out that it is easy to take the train to Walsall and sample the alehouses then jump back on the rattler to Bescot in time for the game...a journey of just a few minutes.
As I mentioned earlier, the Arbor Lights on Lichfield Street is a good call and is only about 350 yards from the station. The Hogshead on Leicester Street serves good reasonably priced food although I think the fluids may be fizzy. The Imperial on Darwell Street offers the usual Wetherspoons fare. The Lyndon House Hotel in Upper Rushall Street is a bar within a hotel, provides good food and reportedly 5 handpumps sporting Directors, Lyndon House Bitter, Theakstons Mild and two others while the Red Lion in Park Street is small but offers a cracking pint of Banks’ Mild.
Yes, there are plenty of Pubs around Walsall station. Enjoy.
